My Talk

When we compete at Ag Day we have to talk to the judges about our lamb, including how we care for them and what we know about the breed. Here is the speech I've prepared to help me remember what to say on the day:

Her name is Kaos, it is spelt in a unique way - K A O S because I think it goes with her unique personality.
She was born on the 20th of July so she is an early lamb.
She is a Dorper - this breed comes from South Africa, Dorpers are breed for meat but we are not going to eat her. Dorper skin is extra thick and it is the most sought after sheepskin in the world. Dorpers are grazers and browsers unlike most other breeds of sheep. Dorpers don’t need shearing or crutching because the will moult.
Kaos has not been docked because her breed is more resistant to fly strike and disease. She has had her five in one injection which protects her from Pulpy Kidney, Malignant Oedema, Tetnus, Black Disease and Black Leg  the injection is given under her skin, each dose is 1 ml and a booster is given four weeks later, then annually after that.
She will be drenched prior to weaning
I give Kaos 600 to 700 mls of milk four times a day she also eats some grass.
I brush her every few days. We practise our leading and call and follow most days usually before she has her milk.
She sleeps in our big shed and spends most of her days outside. She loves playing with our boxer dog H.T. When she was little she wore nappies inside she now wears big girl pull ups aged eight to fifteen years old, this means I get to spend more time with her. Mum and I have created a blog about her the address to it is http://kaoslamb2011.blogspot.com
Kaos is an adventurous lamb who is very special to me.
